The safety and wellbeing of pupils is a priority at Walmsley. This section outlines how we safeguard and support children, alongside key policies that guide our approach.

This section provides access to wider school policies and procedures, including statutory information and guidance that supports the effective running of the school.

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils feel supported, valued and able to succeed at Walmsley. We recognise that every child is unique, and we work closely with families to ensure that individual needs are understood and met.

Our approach focuses on removing barriers to learning, helping pupils to develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards school. Support is carefully planned and reviewed to ensure that all pupils can make progress and take part fully in school life.

We aim to provide a consistent and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, respected and encouraged to achieve their potential.

How We Support Pupils

Support may include:

      • Adapted teaching approaches within the classroom
      • Targeted interventions to support specific needs
      • Access to specialist advice where appropriate
      • Regular review of progress and support plans

We work closely with parents and carers throughout this process to ensure that support is effective and responsive.

Working with Families

We value strong communication with families and encourage parents and carers to speak with us if they have any concerns about their child’s learning or development.

Key Documents

We value strong communication with families and encourage parents and carers to speak with us if they have any concerns about their child’s learning or development.

The safety of pupils and staff is always our priority. The school will remain open wherever it is safe to do so.

In adverse weather, the decision to send a pupil to school rests with parents, based on local conditions. If your child is likely to be delayed or unable to attend, please contact the school.

Parents should not assume the school is closed without confirmation. Unexplained absence may be recorded as unauthorised.

If the school needs to close, parents will be notified by text and a message will be posted on the website. Please check for updates before travelling.

If conditions worsen during the school day, we will aim to remain open where possible. If early closure is required, parents will be contacted and pupils can be collected by a nominated adult.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy outlines how funding is used to support eligible pupils, helping to improve outcomes, remove barriers to learning and provide wider opportunities.
