Walmsley CE Primary School is part of a wider community, and we place importance on helping pupils to understand their role within it. Through a range of experiences, both within and beyond the classroom, pupils are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility, respect and awareness of the world around them.
Opportunities are provided for pupils to take part in activities that extend beyond the core curriculum. This includes educational visits, extra-curricular activities and involvement in local community projects. These experiences help pupils to make connections between their learning and real life, while also supporting the development of confidence and social skills.
We also ensure that pupils develop an understanding of diversity and equality. Through the curriculum and wider school experiences, pupils learn about different cultures, beliefs and backgrounds, and are encouraged to show respect and consideration for others. This helps to prepare them for life in a diverse and changing society.
Pupil voice is valued, and children are given opportunities to share their views and contribute to aspects of school life. This encourages a sense of ownership and helps pupils to feel that they are an active part of the school community.
Through these experiences, pupils develop not only academically, but also socially and personally, gaining the skills and understanding needed to participate positively in their community both now and in the future.
